Harveys Boys are Barry Turner and Tim Kent (that's me) and we have been singing together, off and on, since the late 1960s. We take our name from our favourite tipple, the fine Sussex Real Ale brewed in Lewes. We are collectors of songs. Whether they be pop, folk, comedy, traditional or standards, if they are songs that entertain and are great to sing then we will add them to our repertoire. We have some original material too and this album contains a mixture of our own music and some favourites which are frequently requested when we perform. There is a Scottish flavour to this collection because Scotland has been a big influence on our lives since we got to know the delights of the Highlands and Islands back in the 1970s. We've tried to make our selection of songs and tunes varied and interesting and we hope you enjoy this CD (our first).
© Copyright on tracks 1, 5, 9, 10, 11, 15 is for Turner and Kent.
Special interest has been drawn to Track 1 'Harveys Best' ( for obvious reasons), Track 5 'They were the Few' ( from the RAF for their bands to play as a dedication to The Battle of Britain pilots) and Track 15 'Return to Ardfern' (for Scottish pipe bands to add to their repertoire of slow marches). Please note that we are looking to have these songs published so if any publisher is interested and would like a copy of these please be kind enough to contact me personally and I will get one to you asap. Email me from here.
